Donate To Marine Animal Rescue and Response
WDC’s Marine Animal Rescue and Response (MARR) team acts as first responders to sick and injured marine mammals and examines dead animals to learn more about why they died. In our first year, our MARR team received nearly three dozen reports of marine mammals who needed our help
We have some BIG news to share – NOAA asked us to double our response territory! This means WDC will rescue marine animals along 200+ miles of coastline and fill a gap in coverage where marine mammals were previously without help. As part of NOAA’s Greater Atlantic Regional stranding network, we are providing critical support to our neighboring partners. Make a donation today to support our MARR team to rescue whales, dolphins, and seals.
As our program grows, we are furthering our contribution to marine mammal science by performing more necropsies (animal autopsies). Necropsies are invaluable opportunities to collect data that help us learn about the health of marine mammals and is used for research and monitoring whale populations. We are looking forward to increasing our impact through these exams.
