Description
Adopt a whale today! Pepper, the “southpaw,” is a mature female humpback whale first identified in 1976. When you symbolically adopt her, you get a personalized certificate of adoption, her photo, biography, and family tree. In addition, you’ll learn fascinating facts and figures about humpback whales, get a map of their migratory paths, and a humpback sticker to show your support. You’ll also receive monthly updates featuring seasonal sightings, a personality profile, and a WDC newsletter with information on how your adoption is helping to save whales and dolphins worldwide. Like people, most humpbacks are “righties,” but not Pepper, and that’s not the only trait that makes her stand out in the crowd. She’s also kept two of her 10 calves with her for two years!
WDC’s Whale Adoption Project first began in the early 1980s. As the world’s first humpback whale adoption program, we have remained the best, as demonstrated by the number of whales that original adopters have sponsored for almost 30 years. In 2014, WDC added two orcas to our adoptable whale family. Often called killer whales for their ability to take town sea lions and other large prey in the wild for food, Fife and Holly are welcome additions to our adoption whale pod. There is an adoption package for everyone. Remember, each adoption helps fund our work to free cetaceans in captivity and protect whales, orcas, dolphins, and their ocean habitats. So, symbolically adopt a whale, make a donation, or become a Flippin Awesome WDC Member today and become part of our captivity-free whale-loving family!
